Get Help

To connect to free legal help, the survivor and their caseworker or program advocate can call the ALIGHT Intake Advocate at (720-314-8445) to set up an intake call. This is not a crisis line.

Eligibility:

  1. survivor of human trafficking who
  2. has a nuts-and-bolts legal need (see list of examples below)
  3. has a connection to Colorado, Utah or the greater Los Angeles areas (where survivor resides or location need/initial harm took place)
  4. is in financial need of free legal help
  5. is working with a case manager or program advocate who can support them on their legal journey from start-to-finish
  6. is ready and appropriate for legal services at this time

Request free legal advocacy, counsel and representation to help with legal issues involving:

  • Criminal records,
  • Debt collection,
  • Debt repair,
  • Online privacy,
  • Wage theft,
  • Identity theft,
  • Contracts,
  • Survivor-led nonprofit formation,
  • Tax,
  • Child custody,
  • Assistance with law enforcement investigation/prosecution of trafficker
  • Your rights at work,
  • Understanding the law or
  • Other advocacy, counsel and representation needs in family law, criminal law or civil litigation
  • (NOT immigration law issues, murder charges, clemency petitions, class action suits or impact litigation)

To note before you call:

  • We welcome survivors of all forms of human trafficking, and work with individuals of all gender identities, nationalities, sexual orientations and ages.
  • We work with survivors who have experienced trafficking at any point in their lives as we recognize the journey forward is long, and so we welcome survivors who are 10, 20 or more years out of their trafficking experience.
  • If you have needs outside of Colorado, Utah or the greater Los Angeles area areas, we suggest that you research the legal resources listed on the National Human Trafficking Hotline resource directory.
  • ALIGHT is unable to provide translation services during the intake at this time. Non-English speakers should call the intake line with a translator.
  • This is a warm line (M-F 9 am – 5 pm MDT). If the Intake Advocate is not able to answer your call, please leave a message with your name and number where you can be contacted.
  • The Intake Advocate is a mandatory reporter.

  • ALIGHT is unable to provide assistance with legal matters that include immigration and murder charges, although legal services are available to survivors regardless of immigration status. 
  • There is no guarantee that a survivor will be matched with an attorney for free legal services on their needs, but ALIGHT will try its best.
